FRICTION CONICAL VARIABLE-SPEED DRIVE Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

Abstract RU 2222736 C1

FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in mechanisms where maintaining steady speed of driven shaft rotation is required. Proposed friction variable-speed drive contains driving conical member 1 and driven conical member 2 installed, respectively, on shafts 4 and 5 in housing. Driven conical member 2 is made in form of hollow chamber in form of truncated cone partially filled with ferromagnetic liquid 7. Bases 8 and 9 of chamber are rigid. Conical side surface of chamber is formed by set of thin uniformly spaced rings 10 with gradually changing diameter and rigidly fitted on shaft 5 by means of spokes 11. Rings 10 are coated with film 12 freely fitted on surface formed by rings and secured over entire perimeter of rings 10. Permanent magnet 13 is made in form of axially magnetized disk and is installed on smaller base 9 of chamber. EFFECT: enlarged operating capabilities of variable-speed drive owing to provision of steady speed of driven shaft, improved reliability of variable-speed drive. 2 dwg
