FIELD: materials used in quantum electronics such as monocrystals for solid- state diode-pumped lasers. SUBSTANCE: proposed laser material designed for use in diodepumped lasers radiating within range of 1.5 to 1.6 mcm is based on mixed orthoborate activated by ytterbium and erbium ions, its chemical formula being R1-x-y-zYbxErySczBO3, where R is La and/or Ce, 0,05<x≤0,18; 0,005<y≤0,1, 0,5<z<0,9. Proposed material provides for laser radiation within wavelength range of 1.5 to 1.6 mcm at output power higher than 100 mW.
