FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves neurological status of patient. Its positive dynamics cerebral oxygenation level stability rSO2 being greater than 55%, respiratory support reduction period is started and the patient is transferred to self-standing breathing mode; rSO2 falling below 55% or its instability lasting 20-30 min during the respiratory support reduction period, transition to selfstanding breathing mode is cancelled. After having transferred the patient to self-standing breathing mode, cerebral oxygenation level is continued for 6 h. rSO2 falling below 55% or its instability lasting for 2 h, the patient is transferred to artificial lung ventilation mode. EFFECT: enhanced effectiveness in determining optimum way of respiratory support reduction; reduced unjustified long period of artificial lung ventilation.
