FIELD: industrial inorganic synthesis. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to manufacture and equipment for manufacture of aluminum hydroxides or oxides, in particular for manufacturing them from aluminum metal via oxidation. Method also involves manufacture of hydrogen. Method consists in that fine aluminum with particle size up to 20 mcm is slurred in water to give slurry with aluminum-to-water weight ratio 1:(4-16), which is continuously delivered into high-pressure reactor wherein slurry is atomized with water steam at 220 to 900 C and pressure 20 to 40 MPa into drops no more than 100 mcm in size, weight ratio of slurry to water being 1:(50-100). Gas-vapor mixture leaving high-pressure reactor is forwarded into condenser to give 99%-purity hydrogen and, collected in settling tank, aluminum hydroxide or oxide containing at least 99.5% of base material. Method is implemented on plant comprising mixer, high-pressure reactor provided with nozzle performing atomization of powdered aluminum slurry in water, slurry settling tank, and condenser.
