FIELD: chemistry of organophosphorus compounds with the linkage C-P. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to preparing alkyl(phenyl)phosphine- borane complex of the general formula: R₂PH•BH₃ (I) wherein R is alkyl or phenyl. These compounds are used as the parent substances for synthesis of water-soluble catalysts used in producing polymers. Invention describes method for preparing alkyl- (phenyl)phosphine-borane complex by interaction of dialkyl(diphenyl)- chlorophosphine with sodium boron hydride as a complex hydride in ethylene glycol dimethyl ester medium as an organic solvent at temperature 10-100 C. The parent reagents are taken in equimolar ratios followed by isolation of the end product by the known procedures.
