FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to method of restoration of friction units in internal combustion engines using tribotechnical compositions. Proposed method includes preparation of treatment composition by mechanically activating tribotechnical composition consisting of fine-grained mixture of natural minerals, containing serpentine, magnetite and talc, with oil and delivering of said composition to friction zone with subsequent working-in with formation of coating. First working composition is prepared of 5-30 g of tribotechnical composition per kg of oil, with mechanically activating tribotechnical composition with not less than 1/6 of full amount of oil required for filling internal combustion engine and said composition is delivered into engine crankcase, and second composition containing 2-4 g of tribotechnical composition per 0/1 kg of oil is prepared and delivered in parts into each cylinder of internal combustion engine, 15-30 ml per liter of cylinder capacity. Working-in is carried out at idling, using, as tribotechnical composition, a mixture, dispersity 0.01-100 mc. m.
