FIELD: safety engineering. SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to predict level of contamination of air in working rooms by vapors of hexachlorobutadien from certain contamination sources and to control timeliness and efficiency of decontamination measures. Specific rate of gas liberation from surface contaminated with hexachlorobutadien is computed by readings of halogen leak detector with digital or pointer indication, fitted with nosepiece to fix distance of 1.0 to 3.0 mm of sampling tube of leak detector from examined surface and by calibration graph built in coordinate system " instrument readings-specific rate of gas liberation ". Technical result consist in utilization of calibrated leak detector for establishment of specific rate of gas liberation from surfaces contaminated with hexachlorobutadien. Proposed device makes it possible to raise efficiency, shorten time of research work that studies properties of materials with different permeability, contacting vapors and liquid haxachlorobutadien and gives possibility for timely control over rate of gas liberation of hexachlorobutadien from working surfaces of room. EFFECT: raised efficiency of device.
