FIELD: transport.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to control over driver state, namely, to prevention of driver falling asleep. Proposed method comprises generating face image and detecting areas of eyes. Besides, pattern of driver pupil is generated proceeding from general description for every human being, intermittent illumination of driver face by IF radiation, detecting image area including face image, defining limits of pupil motion, determining frequency and directions of eyes motion, determining blinking frequency, determining duration wherein driver eyes are closed, comparing parametres characterising driver state with reference states of falling asleep and sleeping. Using the results of comparison, decision is made to signal the driver falling asleep.
EFFECT: simplified method, simple implementation, and insensitivity to outer illumination.
