FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves placing instruments in sterilization chamber filled with electric conducting medium and exposing to electric current treatment. The electric current is supplied from power supply source via electrodes mounted in the chamber. The materials and instruments are positioned in immediate vicinity of electrodes, microplasmatic discharge being produced at least on one of the electrodes. Electric current action is exerted in indirect way, that is, the instrument under treatment is not electrically connected to the power supply source. Electrodes manufactured from valve metals. Microplasmatic discharges are produced under voltage reaching 1000 V in pulsating mode with current density not exceeding 500 A/dm2 or sinusoid profile of master voltage pattern under current density not exceeding 50 A/dm2. EFFECT: enhanced effectiveness of sterilization; retained physical and chemical properties of materials treated. 10 cl, 2 tbl
