FIELD: teeming molten metal, for example steel or cast iron. SUBSTANCE: proposed stopper rod has body made from refractory material and provided with bore. Upper end of rod is secured to hoisting mechanism for vertical motion of stopper rod. Stopper rod is provided with bush having sealing surface directed towards sealing surface of body. Bush is made from material whose thermal expansion coefficient exceeds that of material of metal rod. In the course of teeming, metal rod expands considerably relative to body made from refractory material. This expansion is compensated for by bush whose length is sufficient for expansion under action of temperature and keeping sealing gasket in compressed state.
