FIELD: teeming molten metal, steel or cast iron for example. SUBSTANCE: proposed stopper rod has body made from refractory material and bore. Upper end of stopper rod is secured to hoisting mechanism for vertical motion of stopper rod. At least two sections of stopper rod are made from different refractory materials. Bore has widened section with sealing surface and sealing gasket. Section of body embracing the area where sealing gasket is laid is made from gastight material at relative gas permeability of 5•10-17 sq m. Second section is made from refractory material resistant to corrosion. EFFECT: enhanced tightness of joint of sealing surfaces due to difference in thermal expansion coefficients of materials. 9 cl, 2 dwg
