FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: stop rod (100) for regulating the flow of molten metal and for supplying gas during pouring of the molten metal contains a rod-shaped body (101) with first (105) and second (107) ends and a nose (103) adjacent to the second end (107), chamber (109) along the central longitudinal axis (L) of the body (101), stopper and means (123) for supplying gas. A channel (111) is made on the outer surface of the nose (103) around the longitudinal axis (L). The chamber (109) extends from the first end (105) and terminates at a distance from the second end (107) of the stopper. Means (123) for supplying gas are carried out from the chamber (109) and through the body (101) of the stopper into the channel (111). During use of the locking rod, the inert gas enters the chamber through the gas supply means and passes through the gas supply means (123) into the channel (111). In the channel (111), the gas is collected, distributed and then exits the channel (111), forming a uniform gas curtain around the locking rod.
EFFECT: reduced deflection of the locking rod during pouring of the molten metal from the tundish, which leads to an improvement in the quality of the cast metal.
