FIELD: metal casting, namely nozzle unit, particularly used with stopper plug. SUBSTANCE: nozzle unit includes refractory body with upper and lower portions having opening with inlet and outlet ends for receiving and discharging melt metal. Upper portion of body is surrounded by unit for distributing inert gas. Opening walls are covered by sleeve of refractory material preventing gas flowing. Said sleeve forms seat zone in upper portion of opening. Outer surface of upper portion is surrounded by metallic casing. Inert gas supplied to upper gas -permeable portion of body by means of gas distributor is directed by means of sleeve and metallic casing in such a way that it flows, mainly through upper edge of upper portion. Such flow of inert gas shields seat zone of opening and protects it against action of oxygen of environment. It prevents deposition of alumina in seat zone that may interfere with stopper plug regulating melt metal flow. EFFECT: improved design. 23 cl, 5 dwg
