FIELD: cellulose derivatives. SUBSTANCE: cellulose acetate solution suitable in fabrication of fibers, films, membranes, and cigarette filters is prepared via first providing powdered cellulose acetate, washing thereof in water, drying to moisture 5.1 to 30%, and dissolution in acetone or water/acetone mixture. Thus obtained polymer is characterized by new spatial structure enabling higher selectivity of membranes and improved retention capacity of sorbents in cigarette filters. Application of cellulose acetate of invention also leads to considerable rise in cholesterol-retentive capacity of biofilters. EFFECT: enhanced useful properties of product. 4 tbl, 9 ex
