FIELD: metallurgy, in particular, processing of industrial secondary products and platinum ores with the use of blast-furnace and converter processes. SUBSTANCE: method involves melting basic material in the presence of carbonaceous reducer, with following concentrating of extracted metals in iron phase. Basic material is burden comprising at least 2 g/t of platinum metals, as well as silicate, iron and sulfide components. Carbonaceous reducer is used in excessive amounts and smelting is conducted until heterogeneous melt of sulfide, silicate and iron phases are produced, with following separation of iron phase, which concentrates platinum metals. Iron phase is subjected to oxidizing thermal processing to provide for complete separation of platinum metals.
