FIELD: glassmaking industry; melting blocks from special crown glass, fluoro-phosphate and fluoride glass. SUBSTANCE: after melting glass mass in cylindrical reservoir and homogenization of this mass by means of screw agitator, molding of glass mass is continued at intensive mixing. Device proposed for realization of this method includes cylindrical reservoir with bottom branch pipe and screw agitator; said reservoir is provided with circular well in its upper portion for forming hydraulic seal; agitator is made in form of cylindrical cap inserted in circular well. Helical blade is inclined at angle of 5-15 deg. relative to axis of agitator and its diameter is equal to 0.6-0.9 internal diameter of reservoir; lower edge lies at distance of 20-40 mm from bottom of reservoir and upper edge lies at distance of 40- 60 mm from circular well. Proposed method and device ensure 100-% homogeneity of glass and molded block. EFFECT: enhanced homogeneity of glass. 5 cl, 2 dwg
