FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: proposed band-and-shoe brake with controlled electromagnetic drive has drum with brake pulley installed in supports, two brake bands with friction lining, and electric drive. Brake bands are made concave to side opposite to brake pulley to receive fitted-on variable-section friction material and they enclose brake pulley from opposite sides. Upper and lower ends of said bands are connected from top and bottom with pull-in armatures of electromagnets to adjust angle of contact of brake pulley with bands with friction lining. Cylindrical springs installed between flanges and housing of electromagnets are chosen with stiffness to provide holding of said bands in initial position and return into initial position after completion of braking. EFFECT: possibility of regulation and control of brake parameters, improved efficiency in operation. 1 dwg
