FIELD: continuous observation systems engineering. SUBSTANCE: method includes sending a probing signal on pipeline route and evaluating of probing results. As a probing signal impulse optical signal is used, which is sent along at least one stationary measuring channel, isolated from atmosphere, for forming of which channel a fiber light guide is connected to pipeline casing. Along the length of each light guide, portions with increased reflective ability are formed at given periodicity. Presence of opening is detected on basis of change of parameters of reflected optical signal, received from each portion with increased reflective ability. Input of probing signal and receiving of reflected signals are performed by means of registering optical reflectometer. EFFECT: capability of constant control over product pipeline serviceability, increased speed of warning in case of pipeline opening. 7 cl, 1 dwg
