FIELD: continuous observation systems engineering. SUBSTANCE: method includes sending a probing signal on pipeline route and evaluating of probing results. As a probing signal optical radiation is used, which is sent along at least one stationary measuring channel, isolated from atmosphere, for forming of which channel a fiber light guide is connected to pipeline casing, preferably uninterruptedly, along whole length of product pipeline portion under control. Presence of opening is detected on basis of signal absence on exit of stationary measuring channel and/or appearance of signal on its exit. EFFECT: capability of constant control over product pipeline serviceability, increased speed of warning in case of pipeline opening. 2 cl, 1 dwg
