FIELD: ferrous metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: briquette includes iron-containing material, 5-35% carbon-containing substance, and binding agent. The latter is prepared from mixture of building cement and plasticizing air-entraining additive, in particular adipic alkali plasticizer of formula, constituting 10-18 and 0.1-0.9%, respectively, on the total weight of briquette. Carbon-containing substance utilized is graphite electrode manufacture waste with 0.5% sulfur. Weight ratio of total carbon to total iron oxides in briquette is 1:(4.0-6.0). Iron-containing material is a mixture of natural- or industrial-origin iron oxides and metallic trade wastes with fraction fractional distribution 1 to 30 mm, content of iron metal in iron-containing material ranging from 0 to 95%. Carbon-containing substance can also be coal, coke, or thermoanthracite. EFFECT: simplified composition and optimized thermophysical characteristics. 4 cl, 2 tbl
