FIELD: performing operations.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to agglomeration of crushed iron-ore material in order to prepare it for metallurgical processing and utilization of iron-containing wastes, such as sludge, scale, blast furnace dust and others. Particles of iron-containing material and binder are mixed, the mixture is aggregated and the obtained aggregates are hardened. Binder used is a thermoplastic material ground to a fraction of not more than 2.0 mm, in amount of 20 to 100 g per kilogram of iron-containing material. Aggregation of the mixture and hardening of the obtained units is carried out simultaneously in a closed mould under the effect of pressure and temperature not lower than softening temperature of the thermoplastic material by the method of internal thermal shock by supplying sharp superheated water vapour at excess pressure of 0.2-0.3 MPa.
EFFECT: providing compactness, minimum crumbling and moisture content of the unit, environmental friendliness of use.
