FIELD: ferrous metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to composition of anisotropic electric (transformer) steel smelted in converter and designed for continuous cast into slabs for subsequent rolling and heat treatment. Invention aims at increasing induction and decreasing specific power losses in transformers manufactured from claimed steel. This aim is achieved by using steel, which contains, wt %: carbon 0.020-0.050, silicon 2.8-3.3, phosphorus 0.005-0.020, aluminum 0.011-0.021, nitrogen 0.007-0.015, sulfur up to 0.010, nickel up to 0.10, chromium up to 0.10, manganese 0.10-0.30, copper 0.3-0.6, titanium 0.0005-0.005, oxygen 0.001-0.005, calcium 0.0002-0.001, and iron - the balance, wherein titanium, oxygen, and calcium are additional components. EFFECT: enabled controlling structure and texture formation on heating and heat treatment of steel. 1 tbl
