FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves recording equilibrium potential of iodide-selective electrode in urine sample under examination. 96% ethyl alcohol is added to the 10.0-20.0 ml large urine sample under examination in the amount of 5.0-10.0 ml and then, equilibrium iodide-selective electrode potential (E1) changes are recorded. Standard iodide-ion solution of 10 mg/l concentration is added in the amount of 0.1-0.2 ml to the same sample and equilibrium iodide- selective electrode potential (E2), changes are recorded. The same quantity of standard iodide-ion solution is added and equilibrium potential (E3), is measured. ΔE2 is found as and ΔE3 as
. Concentration function of R = ΔE3/ΔE2 is calculated and iodide-ion concentration in urine from formula Cx/ΔC•10-6, where Cx/ΔC is determined using table of Cx/ΔC values depending on R. EFFECT: high accuracy of method. 1 tbl
