FIELD: rolled stock production, possibly manufacture of rolled shapes of carbon and alloy steels. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of heating blank, multipass reducing of it between rolls with cast iron roll grooved passes; performing multipass reduction at temperature range 800 - 1250 C at elongation factor for one pas equal to 1.05 - 1.50; using rolls with grooved passes made of cast iron having next chemical content, mass %: carbon, 2.7 - 3.9; silicon, 0.2 - 0.9; manganese, 0.3 - 1.2; chrome, 0.5 - 0.9; nickel, 0.7 - 2.2; molybdenum, 0.1 - 0.6; vanadium, 0.01 - 0.08; sulfur, no more than 0.02; phosphorus, 0.08 - 0.20; iron, the balance. EFFECT: maximum strength of reduction roll grooved passes, possibility for making rolled pieces with high accuracy of dimensions and high mechanical properties. 2 tbl
