FIELD: special-purpose electrical metallurgy; production of new rollers or repair of worn rollers for continuous casting machines. SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes preparation of consumable electrode, performing electroslag re-melting and its final period where power is reduced and consumable electrode is withdrawn from slag bath. Mass of consumable electrode is equal to 1-1.05 of mass of cast blank. Re-melting is performed in crystallizer; diameter of melting space of this crystallizer is close to diameter of roller barrel at space factor of 0.7-0.8. At final stage of process, power is reduced by 2/3 as minimum. Furnace is switched off before beginning of solidification of slag bath surface, after which furnace is switched-on at power of 1/3 of working level, electrode is dipped in bath to depth not exceeding 0.5 of diameter of consumable electrode and is kept there till melting of end face of electrode to level of slag bath.
