FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrometallurgy, namely, to electroslag remelting (ESR) in water-cooled crystallizer of metal containing wastes, including automotive catalysts, crucibles and other wastes containing precious metals. Method comprises feeding electricity to graphite electrode and feeding slag-forming and carbon-containing materials into crystallizer, guidance of slag bath, supply of crushed metal-containing wastes till formation of liquid bath, maintenance of melt and slag loading. Metal-containing wastes are represented by wastes containing precious metals, and to reduce viscosity and specific resistance of slag melt, respectively, to 0.11 Pa⋅s and up to 0.1…1.0 Ohm⋅cm, together with said wastes supply of low-melting powder material, for example, CaF2.
EFFECT: invention increases efficiency of processing wastes with low content of precious metals, increases degree of extraction of pure metal and reduces processing costs.
