FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: in the method an electrode is used with an axial hole for formation of a vertical electric arc at its end and a crystalliser, on the inner surface of the wall of which there is a refractory layer sputtered, at the same time metal-containing wastes are fed via a chute and a funnel, and slag-forming and carbon-containing materials are supplied via the axial hole of the electrode in the flow of argon, nitrogen or natural gas, into the electrode sheath of the slag bath into the zone of action of the vertical electric arc created at the end of the electrode, and the process of melting of metal-containing wastes is carried out in recovery conditions with development of the required composition of the slag bath in the upper part of the crystalliser, at the same time the electrode, the funnel and the crystalliser are installed coaxially.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to carry out continuous process of wastes melting and formation of a slag melt in an electrode sheath in volume of electric arc with low heat losses into environment and under recovery conditions.
