FIELD: industrial building, particularly determination of chimney technical condition. SUBSTANCE: method involves chimney estimating according to preliminary inspection program worked out on the basis of execute and maintenance documentation including chimney structure parameters, namely concrete compression stress, for determining actual values thereof by measurement of above parameters; determining allowable parameter values; comparing measured values with allowable values; identifying chimney areas for more detailed instrumental inspection of their components on the basis of above comparison; determining parameters of these components; ascertaining detailed inspection of these components; determining the cause of mismatching between measures and acceptable parameters; estimating chimney serviceability, wherein maximum concrete compression stress and compression stress which is equal to 0.85 - 0.9 of maximum compression strength are used as component parameters on these steps; determining chimney areas with above compression strength values; taking concrete samples from this area; determining such parameters as prism strength, thickness of concrete chimney wall, thickness of heat insulation layer and concrete density; ascertaining chimney serviceability on the basis of these parameters. Prism strength is measured over concrete models made of concrete sample. Place for sample taking is located within the limits of determined chimney area, in each concreting section and in each construction joint thereof. Sample is drilled-out in pointed places.
