FIELD: heating high-temperature steal smelting units such as open-hearth, double-bath, glass, and other smelting furnaces. SUBSTANCE: proposed method enables use of 35% of spent oil added to fuel oil and maintenance of desired temperature of flame by varying proportion of oil along with redistribution of fuel mixture sprayer between main burner and side tuyeres. Provision is made to shut off fuel mixture supply and to transfer to furnace heating with clean fuel oil as soon as specified temperature limits of furnace and its components are attained. In this way spent fuel not subject to recovery can be reused. EFFECT: reduced cost of furnace products. 1 cl, 3 dwg
