PROCEDURE ESTABLISHING SUMMARY CONTENT OF HYDROCARBONS IN ANALYZED MIXTURE Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

FIELD: chromatography, determination of summary content of hydrocarbons in air or water. SUBSTANCE: procedure can be employed to measure concentration of hydrocarbon contaminants in atmospheric air, specifically, in working zone of sources of industrial effluents as well as in natural water and sewage in process of ecological monitoring and other investigations of environmental objects. Sample is divided chromatographically with detection of hydrocarbons in the form of indivisible peak by flame-ionization detector. Hydrocarbons are isolated in chromatographic column on sorbent which presents crystalline hydrate of magnesium perchlorate applied to chromatographic diatomite non-silaned carrier. Hydrocarbons are isolated at temperature of 170 C and crystalline hydrate of magnesium perchlorate is applied to chromatographic carrier in maximal amount that it can retain. Liquid sample is transferred in advance to gaseous state for analysis in evaporator of chromatograph.
