FIELD: fire-fighting equipment. SUBSTANCE: device has channel and a number of rods arranged into channel and directed such that flow moving into channel passes between rods. Rod rows compose flame retarding member. Rods located close to each other create surface above which gas flow passes with minimum flow resistance. Rods may have any dimension. Gaps between rods are selected in dependence of gas or vapor type exploded into air. Rod diameters may vary for withstanding different explosion pressure values, which provides creation of flame retarding devices for fast burning and for detonating explosions. Rods may be solid or hollow and formed of tubes. In the case of tube usage as rods tubes may be filled with cooling liquid, which results in increased device efficiency in continuous burning conditions. Device has additional tubes of greater diameter with greater gaps between tubes. Rods in parallel rows may be offset relative adjacent row. Angle of pitch may vary, e.g. from 30 deg. to 60 deg but these values are not irrefutable. Device may be cleaned mechanically by simple plate-like scrapper, which moves along each rod for cleaning thereof. Scrapper may be manually- or automatically operated.
