FIELD: refractory materials. SUBSTANCE: material designed for lining of steel-casting ladles contains 8-20% graphite, 2.5-5.0% binding agent (phenol-formaldehyde novolac resin), and microcrystalline quartzite with crystal size 10-150 mcm and at least 97% SiO2. Utilized binder provides high mechanical strength owing to irreversible solidification and formation of dense binding skeleton. Formation of silicon carbide during use of material increases softening temperature thereby enhancing stability of ladle lining. EFFECT: improved performance characteristics of material. 2 tbl
