FIELD: chemical technology, vegetable oils. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to method for preparing oxidized vegetable oils used as a film-forming agent in paint and varnish, printing and light industry, as a binding agent in building industry and in other branches of industry. Method for preparing oxidized vegetable oils involves oxidation of semi-drying vegetable oils with air oxygen in air consumption value 20 h-1, at temperature 130-150 C and process is carried out in the presence of the following catalytic system: triethylaluminium or triisobutylaluminium in the amount 0.1-0.5% and higher fatty acid nickel salt in the amount 0.03-0.05% (by metal) up to attainment the viscosity value 2000-2800 Pa.s. Method provides preparing light oxidized vegetable oils under mild conditions in the presence of non expensive catalysts. EFFECT: improved preparing method. 4 tbl, 1 ex
