FIELD: laser engineering and fiber optics. SUBSTANCE: device has optical fiber section with constant-diameter core throughout entire length of mentioned section. Optical fiber sheath has at least on one portion of length L≥10•D of mentioned optical fiber section reduced sectional diameter ranging within D<d≤min(4D,40μm) where D is diameter of mode field. Optical discharge wave propagating over optical fiber causes plasma generation in vicinity of core at pressure of about 104 at that encourages destruction of optical fiber crystal sheath about reduced diameter, and destruction process ceases. At least one optical fiber section having reduced thickness of crystal sheath is installed in fiber-optic lines to prevent deformation of optical fiber core. EFFECT: ability of stopping destruction process at increase in laser emission without causing additional loss in fiber-optic line. 7 cl, 9 dwg
