FIELD: laser devices.
SUBSTANCE: method for manufacturing fibre-optic radiation scatterers, in which a scattering structure is formed in the core of an optical fibre, consisting of several closed cavities with exponentially changing sizes and periods, using controlled melting of the core by laser plasma to a given length by an exponentially decaying laser pulse, which is set by the system management of the recording process and feedback.
EFFECT: ability to create a diffuser without removing the polymer protective-hardening coating from the optical fibre and to provide a uniform scattering profile in the radial direction, as well as high strength and heat-resistant properties.
