FIELD: ferrous metallurgy, namely plants for continuous casting of melt metal. SUBSTANCE: apparatus includes steel casting nozzle of steel casting ladle, refractory pipe provided with cone surface and metallic casing mounted in such w way that it forms annular duct communicated with branch pipe for supplying shield gas. Apparatus also includes cone shell secured to metallic casing. There are grooves on cone surface of refractory pipe along its generatrix. Length of said grooves exceed that of cone shell by 1.1 - 1.6 times. Cone shell is mounted in such a way that it forms ducts communicated with said annular duct and it may engage with steel casting nozzle while forming additional annular duct between outer surface of casting nozzle and cone surface of refractory pipe. EFFECT: lowered consumption of shield gas, enhanced quality of metal, less quantity of rejected metal pieces, increased strength of members of apparatus, decreased cost of killing metal. 2 cl, 1 dwg
