FIELD: metallurgy, namely steel casting.
SUBSTANCE: apparatus includes outlet nozzle for supplying melt metal mounted with gap on refractory pipe and gas conduit for feeding gas in said gap. Apparatus includes in addition cylindrical body mounted on shell of outlet nozzle and having duct along vertical symmetry axis of said body. Apparatus may be mounted on upper end of refractory pipe. In cylindrical body at side of said duct in plane normal relative to vertical symmetry axis of body there is annular variable-depth groove. Minimum depth of said groove consists 0.02 - 0.04 of duct diameter; vertical symmetry axis of annular duct is parallel to vertical axis of cylindrical body and it is shifted relative to it by value consisting 0.007 -0.012 of duct diameter to side of maximum depth of annular groove. Gas conduit for feeding gas is communicated with annular groove and it is arranged at side of its maximum depth.
EFFECT: limited growing of nitrogen content in steel during casting process at small consumption of inert gas, enhanced quality of castings.
