FIELD: transport engineering; cross-country vehicle propulsion unit. SUBSTANCE: proposed support-and-running member includes cylinder with screw member arranged on its outer surface. Screw member consists of separate parts, and slots are made in cylinder for radial displacement of parts of screw member relative to longitudinal axis of cylinder. Flexible coating can be applied to outer surface of cylinder free from slots. Flexible members can be secured on separate parts of screw member on surfaces in contact with road. As a result, possibility is provided for moving both off the road and along road without damaging the pavement. EFFECT: increased maneuverability of vehicle, its running speed both off the road and along and survivability in case of failure of part of support-and-running member. 3 cl, 4 dwg
