FIELD: solar batteries primarily used for space vehicles. SUBSTANCE: solar battery designed for direct conversion of solar energy into electricity with aid of semiconductor photoelectric converters has flat panels in the form of frame covered with reticular sheet divided into cells. The latter accommodate modules characterized in enlarged photoactive surface area. Modules have rectangular photoelectric converters, metal switching buses, protective glass plates, small substrate, members fastening module to reticular sheet, shunt diodes disposed near module edges. Glass plates cover several photoelectric converters in relatively perpendicular directions and form integral blocks. Spaces between photoelectric converters inside block are minimized. Edges of blocks are joined through substrate in the form of strips; three-dimensional bus bend eliminators are fitted in clearances between photoelectric converters of adjacent blocks. Fastening members, shunt diodes, and buses near module edges are installed on external surface of glass plates at rear side of module. Fastening members are made in the form of pad with rod; pad is joined with glass plate and rod end is passed through reticular sheet and bent out onto sheet thread. Battery is provided with backup shunt circuits. EFFECT: enhanced capacity and operating reliability, and reduced mass of battery; facilitated wiring on rear side of module. 3 cl, 5 dwg
