FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method of producing fuel for internal combustion engine includes thermochemical water decomposition cycle. Source of heat for thermochemical reaction and hydrogen consumer is internal combustion engine. Hydrogen and oxygen delivered into combustion chamber from storage reservoirs are used as initial fuel. Waste gases in form of superheated vapor are directed into thermochemical reactor. Hydrogen and oxygen formed by thermochemical cycle are directed to engine fuel system through storage reservoirs. Reactor is sealed and thermally isolated from environment.
EFFECT: reduced fuel consumption, no adverse effect on environment.
