FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: proposed method employs thermochemical cycle of decomposition of water using internal combustion engine as source of heat for thermochemical reaction and as consumer of hydrogen, thus produced. Exhaust gases of engine heat reactor to 900-950 C, cut down delivery of hydrocarbon fuel and cut in delivery of water from tank. Liberated hydrogen is cooled to 450-480 C and is directed into engine intake manifold where it mixes leaned fuel mixture. EFFECT: provision of cheap and ecologically clean fuel for road vehicles, increased automobile power, cut down cost of carriage by road. 1 dwg
