FIELD: accelerators of charged particles.
SUBSTANCE: ion source with effect of hollow cathode has anode with emission hole, intermediate electrode, magnetic coil and hollow filament-free cylinder placed on cathode bar. Hollow filament-free cylinder houses additional bar made of magnetoconducting material which length is less than length of hollow filament-free cylinder so connected to cathode bar made of magnetoconducting material that lines of force of magnetic field created by magnetic coil pass inside space of filament-free cylinder. Electrons emitted by walls into space of cathode cylinder and plasma electrons enhance extent of trajectories of their travel and are additionally held by this field inside cathode cylinder in process of oscillatory motion transverse to lines of force of magnetic field, which contributes to formation of denser plasma in cylinder and to increased density of current of electron beam emerging as result of effect of hollow cathode.
EFFECT: decreased pressure of working gas in ion source and increased ion current generated by it.
