FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: method involves making non-penetrating circular incision to a given depth. The diameter is calculated from formula D1=D2 x R1/R2, where D1 is the non-penetrating circular incision diameter, D2 is the finite given transplant bed diameter, R1 is the given recipient cornea diameter before operation, R2 is the given recipient cornea diameter after operation. The cornea is laminated along the outer edge of the circular incision forming peripheral stroma pocket of 0.5-1.0 mm in width. The prefabricated transplant which diameter is greater than the finite transplant bed diameter is placed on the prepared bed and fixed by imbedding transplant edges into the peripheral pocket with interrupted sutures being applied.
EFFECT: enhanced effectiveness in achieving correspondence of sutured flap and bed diameters; reliable fixation; reduced risk of traumatic complications; reduced postoperative astigmatism manifestations.
