FIELD: machine engineering, namely abrasive working process in condition of automatic production.

SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of lengthwise motion of dressing tool along working surface of driving wheel by inclination angle relative to its rotation axis by means of lengthwise motion mechanism and cross feed of tool by means of double-stage mechanism for cross feed with autonomous stages; matching cross feed value of respective stage of cross feed mechanism with value of lengthwise motion due to adaptive connection of drive unit of lengthwise motion mechanism with autonomous drive unit of respective stage of cross feed mechanism with use of number program control system. The last provides automatic change of values of cross feed and lengthwise motion at predetermined relation depending upon diameter of worked articles and above mentioned angle between rotation axis of driving wheel and direction of lengthwise motion. Number program control system is activated at time moment of contact of apex of dressing tool with driving wheel in zone of it end. Values of cross feed and lengthwise motion of dressing tool are correlated while taking into account information concerning thickness of removed abrasive layer introduced in number program control system by means of pickup arranged in zone of dressing tool.

EFFECT: enlarged functional and manufacturing possibilities due to enlarged range of changing profile of driving wheel, shortened time period of dressing.
