FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines.
SUBSTANCE: proposed device includes converter with catalytically active material installed in housing of engine exhaust pipeline. Catalytically active material is essentially fiberglass carrier activated at least by one metal of platinum group and/or its oxide in amount of not exceeding 2% by mass and promoter in amount not exceeding 1.5% by mass chosen from group of elements such as aluminum, iron, silicon, titanium, cerium, lanthanum, molybdenum. Converter with catalytically active material is installed in exhaust pipeline housing at a distance from engine to maintain its temperature within 200 and 700oC. Device is simple in design and provides high degree of exhaust gas cleaning owing to use of catalytically active materials on base of fiberglass carriers.
EFFECT: facilitated mounting and demounting at any place in exhaust pipeline, for instance, in muffler, resonator.
