FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines; mufflers with exhaust gas cleaning and converting devices. SUBSTANCE: system has muffler- converter with cylindrical housing provided with end face walls on one of which inlet branch pipe is secured and on other, outlet branch pipe, catalyst converter, gas-jet suction device installed before muffler- converter. Housing of muffler-converter has connector located in area of installation of catalyst converter, and stop made in form of cross insert. Inlet branch pipe is elbow with angle of bend not exceeding 20^o. Flow directing member is made in form of diffuser with cylindrical inlet part and cone with angle of opening not exceeding 12^o. EFFECT: simplified design, facilitated replacement of catalyst units, reduced toxicity and smoke content in exhaust gases over entire operating range of engine. 2 dwg
