METHOD FOR PREDICTING THE TYPE OF IDIOPATHIC SCOLIOSIS Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

Abstract RU 2231970 C2

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: the present innovation deals with predicting both progressing and non-progressing forms of idiopathic scoliosis. Patient's blood serum should be introduced endolumbarly to spinal recipient animal. Statistically valuable parameters should be determined: in flexor muscle at lesion side - alteration in the frequency of evoked and spontaneous EMG-reactions, reciprocal lesions and irradiation of stimulation; in extensor muscles at conventionally healthy side - alteration of spontaneous EMG-activity, in extensor muscle at the side of lesion - reciprocal disorders, in flexor muscles at conventionally healthy side - alteration in the frequency of evoked reactions. All the values should be evaluated by the degree of manifestation ranged 0-3 points. Total sum of points should be calculated and at 15-25 points and the presence of statistically valuable alterations in not less than 5 parameters one should diagnose progressing form, at 12-14 points and statistically valuable alteration in not less than 3 parameters - weak form is determined, at 9-11 points and statistically valuable alteration in not less than 3 parameters - non-progressing form ofidiopathic scoliosis is diagnosed.

EFFECT: earlier prediction.
