FIELD: organic chemistry, chemical technology, biochemistry.

SUBSTANCE: method for preparing amide from acrylonitrile involves chemical treatment of acrylonitrile-containing composition followed by effect on indicated acrylonitrile with nitrile hydratase. After chemical treatment the concentration of hydrocyanic acid in acrylonitrile-containing composition is reduced to 3 ppm or less. Chemical treatment can involve the process for conversion of hydrocyanic acid to metal chelate, contacting with ion-exchange resin or treatment under alkaline conditions. In particular case, method involves nitrile hydratase obtained from Rhodococcus rhodochrous. Method provides effective inhibition of deactivation of nitrile hydratase due to reducing the concentration of hydrocyanic acid in acrylonitrile-containing composition. This provides reducing enzyme amount required for carrying out the reaction.
