FIELD: transportation of liquid and gaseous media, concerns location of leakage from pipe-lines designed for transportation of fluid or gas, in particular, location of leakage in the pipe-line section cut-off from the main pipe-lines by gate valves.
SUBSTANCE: in the beginning and end of the pipe-line section under check measured simultaneously are the flow rates and the pressures of the oppositely moving flows, to this end, accomplished in the given section is the supply of fluid or gas simultaneously from the opposite ends of the pipe-line section in the mutually opposite directions, and the point of leakage is determined by the results of measurements from relation:
where: and - the pressures on the opposite ends of the pipe-line section under check (for a non-horizontal position of the pipe-line on the upper and lower ends of the section under check, respectively); l- the length of the pipe-line section between the measuring points of fluid or gas on the opposite ends of the section under check: - the distance between the point of measurement by pressure and the point of leakage; 0 the hydraulic diameter of the pipe-line; - the friction resistance coefficient of a weight of the medium; - the slope of the pipe-line axis relative to the horizontal plane; and - the flow rates of the oppositely moving flows of fluid or gas in the pipe-line of the section under check under pressures and , respectively; - the function determining the specific friction loss and depending on the resistance coefficient, hydraulic diameter, specific weight and flow rate of the medium, the values of function are determined either experimentally, by measuring pressure drops at various flow rates G in length L of the same pipe-line or a similar one, and calculating by relation
or are determined experimentally on models hydrodynamically similar to the section under check, or calculated by generally accepted methods and reference data. The flow and pressure meters in the device for location of leakage of fluid or gas in a pipe-line section are installed in the beginning and end of the pipe-line section under check, and fluid or gas vessels with devices for supply of the medium, adjustment and measurement of flow rates and pressure are connected with the aid of pipe connections to the pipe-line between the gate valves and the mentioned flow rate and pressure meters.
EFFECT: enhanced economical efficiency and efficiency of determination of the specific point of leakage of fluid or gas in the pipe-line due to refusal from a detailed inspection of the whole surface of the section under check inside or outside the pipe-line, which is especially significant for pipes laid under ground, water or inaccessible for supervision.
