FIELD: agriculture, in particular, plant growing, may be used for cultivation of safflower as oil-bearing and fodder crop.

SUBSTANCE: method involves providing basic and presowing soil cultivation; sowing seeds; providing preemergence crop cultivation; in late autumn, carrying out deep mellowing of arable and subsurface layers to 0.5-0.6 m depth with 0.8-1.1 m wide strips alternating with untilled 0.4-0.6 m wide strips; following deep soil tillage, providing continuous flat tillage of top layer to 0.12-0.15 m depth, with stubble being kept to maximal extent; using pull-behind flat hoes combined with caterpillar tractors; providing mulching of top seeding layer with stubble and precursor plant remains by means of rotary harrows; in winter, providing wide-row drilling with seeding rate of 400-600 pieces of germinating seeds per 1 hectare by means of three-disk shanks of grain-roller drills to 0.04-0.05 m depth; in early spring, providing preemergence transverse harrowing by means of toothed harrows; performing safflower disease and pest control by fine dispersion of natural bischofite mineral solution at dispersion rate of 400-600 l/hectare at ambient air temperature below +10- +150C. Method allows yield of 1.2-1.5 t/hectare of safflower seeds with oil content of 40-60% to be obtained.

EFFECT: provision for creating stable plant associations of safflower on unirrigated land under arid well-defined continental climate conditions.
